Knowing when to send FAMLI a picture

Many Colorado workers filing FAMLI claims are using  a smartphone, which makes it easy to snap an image of their ID when verifying their identity. This will be the only time you will need to submit a photo.

When it comes to verifying health conditions or helping someone who is incapacitated, the FAMLI Division will never ask for photographic evidence. Instead, we created an online portal for health care providers to verify conditions for their patients.

Remember that when a Colorado worker needs to file a FAMLI claim but is incapacitated and can’t do it themselves, a relative or someone legally authorized to make decisions on their behalf may do it for them. If you need to file a claim on behalf of a loved one who is incapacitated, you will file the claim using your own identity as a Designated Representative. This means you won’t ever have to submit a photo of a loved one who is incapacitated. Check out our website for details on how to become a Designated Representative when filing a claim.

Colorado workers who need to step away from work to care for themselves or a loved one can rest assured that they’ll find out exactly what they need to send us to verify any type of claim. All that will be in their My FAMLI+ portal. We’ll never ask for photographic evidence of a medical condition or new child.

Just follow the instructions in the portal and call us if you’re not sure when to send a photo. Our experts are standing by to help! Drop us a line at CDLE_FAMLI_info@state.co.us or give us a call at 1-866-CO-FAMLI any weekday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. MT.
