(DENVER) – Paid leave without all the paperwork is one step closer for Colorado workers and health care providers, as the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE)’s Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) Division announces that the State’s online portal for providers who will be in charge of verifying claims is now live.

The online portal called My FAMLI+  is a one-stop shop for the licensed doctors, nurses, midwives and emergency room personnel who will be recommending the needed length of time away from work for Colorado workers who are welcoming a new child, facing serious health conditions or caring for a loved one facing a medical condition.

Paid leave becomes available for almost all Colorado workers on Jan. 1, 2024. Health care providers are being asked to register in the portal today, so that when their patients face life events that require time away from work, those vulnerable patients won’t have to worry about more paperwork. Patients will be able to start applying for benefits using the portal in late 2023 before payments become available next year.

“Colorado is cutting red tape and ensuring workers can easily access support when they need it most,” said Gov. Jared Polis. “Coloradans deserve high-quality resources and insurance plans that meet their needs and give them the flexibility to care for themselves and their families without permanently leaving the workforce. But, we can’t do it alone, and participation from health care providers across the state will help deliver this for all Coloradans.”

The FAMLI Division started collecting premiums and wage reports at the beginning of 2023 to prepare for the release of benefit payments next year. The program will ensure more workers have access to paid leave during life circumstances that pull them away from their jobs — like welcoming a new child, taking care of a loved one with a serious health condition, or preparing for a loved one’s military deployment.

The new FAMLI Division is led by Tracy Marshall, a Registered Nurse for over 25 years who is Board-Certified as both a Case Manager and Disability Management Specialist. She oversaw the development of the My FAMLI+ health care provider portal with a laser-focus on making life easier for health care providers and elevating the patient experience

“No one goes into health care because they like to do a lot of paperwork,” Marshall said. “I’m proud to say that our portal will support Colorado workers without bogging down our busy health care providers.”
